    Jimmy Leung’s Kitchen

Last Saturday we so called crashed Eve’s dinner at Jimmy Leung’s Kitchen in Doncaster. Jimmy Leung is a real authentic Chinese restaurant. Infact there’s not a word of English on the menu but luckily Eve can read Chinese characters.

    menuboard.jpg

As you can see the menu board is written in Chinese. We had the lucky number of 8 dishes for us and coincidentally there are 8 of us at the dinner.

    oyster.jpg

You can tell that we were very hungry. No matter how fast my digital camera can snap, hungry hands are faster. Hence we got a very beautiful picture of shells! We had steamed oyster in 3 sauces – XO, black bean and ginger sauce.

    crab.jpg

Second dish is baked black pepper crab on hot plate. The black pepper crab tasted deliciously peppery

    beef.jpg

I can’t recall the name of the third dish but it tasted similar to Cantonese beef steak. The beef was really juicy and tender.

    peking-duck.jpg

The fourth dish was the Peking duck. It was just alright. We still prefer the Peking duck at Old Kingdom.

    vege.jpg

Stir fry snow pea sprout with mix wild mushroom [there's definitely enoki in it and another spongy looking /tasting mushroom]

    eggplant.jpg

    Stuffed eggplant with fish paste.

    fish.jpg

The seventh dish is the deep fried fish fillet with sweat corn sauce. This is a very common dish in Melbourne. Loved by all the kwai lo.

    pork.jpg

And lastly is the famous braised pork knuckle with red preserved beancurd [lam yu]. I didn’t try this dish but after getting feedback from the rest, is apparently Jimmy Leung is saving the best for last… I can see DJ having just this and a bowl of rice and call it heaven.

    Picnic at the Tan

It was a very productive Sunday.
Woke up at 7.30am before the alarm rang. Did my pre test-driving lesson at 9.30am. I learned the hook turn in the city. Hook turn can only be found in Melbourne. The reason being is because of the tramlines from the east and west direction in the city. Anyway it wasn’t that difficult as I thought. I find that crossing the intersection is more difficult than the hook turn.

DJ made puff pastries for our picnic at the botanical garden. I felt bad that I did not help him because I spent 2 hours cleaning the bathroom. This time I gave the bathroom a good scrub and bleach and I think I inhaled too much of the cleaning detergents. I felt sick after the cleaning but was really happy with the final result. The bathroom was damn clean. *smirk*

This was our first time at the Botanical Garden and on our way walking in to the park, we got lost looking for the Yauie and Eve but later we managed to find them at the cafe in the park.

Michele came later with her boys Ourdi and Bounce.
Ourdi was so adorable. He actually likes the camera a lot where else Bounce is always grumpy and hates the camera.

Glad that we had picnic today because the weather was really beautiful.

    Da boys

I decide to write a post about my group of good friends that I went to college with and have been my good buddies since then. Mind you, these lil monsters [well not that little anyway] did not treat me like a girl in fact they treated me like one of them. Yes in their eyes, I’m one of da boys.

    kicapman.jpg

This is Sewerside. Cool guy to hang out with. Loves kicap [soya sauce] with anything. The poor mamak restaurant beside our college have to always refill their kicap bottles whenever Sewerside orders his Maggie goreng.

    arbohden.jpg

    Arbor-then
This penang kia always say I’m a lala [ah lian]. The reason being, I also don’t know. But according to him is because I like to drive with the car window wind down, 1 hand on the wheel and the other holding a ciggies. So that’s why I was known as a Lala. Yes it was very unflattering. But what about him? he permed his hair okay. Said he looks like one of the jap actor…ehem… *cough cough*.
Shannon, you still owe me a dish of LALA ok.

    rockyboy1.jpg

This is RockyBoy. Also known as The Token. I’ve know him almost the same time as Sewerside and the rest. This fella never eat. All he does is smoke, smoke and smoke. The first time he intro himself to us, he was quite chubby but after the first semester, he was as skinny as I am.
I love his photography shots. Especially his b&w photo shots. Keep it up RockyBoy!!

    theboys.jpg

    From L-R
    Rick, CK, Jon & RockyBoy
Here’s a group shot of the other boys.
    Rick-
Me and Arbor-then used to get a lot of scolding from Rick because we were dumb with computers and he was the only one in our group that is good with it.

    CK-
Ck was my college senior and we met during our Langkawi trip 7 years ago. He has always been a brotherly friend to me. Very kind hearted guy.
Recently CK has just signed his life away to Liena. Congratulations CK!

    Jon-
Famously known for his monkey language which only he himself could understand. Jon is a very down to earth guy who I enjoyed being friend with.
He has grown a lot since I last saw him. Somehow after he came back from Italy for good, he discovered his love for RICE.

    ***
Guys, thanks for all the good times we shared during our college years and also making an effort to keep in touch with me altough I’m miles away from you all. I look forward for another beer and nuts session with you all at BeamAnimation HQ ;) *Hugs*

    Burnin’ hot and spicy

We caught up with Glenn and Gary for dinner yesterday at this authentic Sichuan restaurant in Chinatown called Dainty. I’ve heard of this place from Lynn many times and always wanted to give it a try but whenever I suggested this restaurant is during the time when everyone has already binged on alcohols.
Spicy food + Alcohol = BIG Trouble.

We ordered the chili chicken dish which I think it’s a popular dish because I see every second table has this dish. The presentation of this dish looks really scary because of the amount of dried chili cooked with chicken bits . It’s almost like eating a dish of dried chili.

    chili-chicken.jpg

Chilli chicken stir fired in mountain of dried chillies.

The pork spare ribs coated with cumin powder was just ok. I had a piece of the spare ribs. It tasted almost like beef jerky. DJ liked it but the other 2 boys didn’t. I ate it because it didn’t have the pork smell. Trust me; you don’t see me very often eating pork.

    pork-spare-ribs.jpg

I ordered the spicy eggplant dish which turns out to be the winner. I love eggplant. The serving portion was generous compared to other Chinese restaurant. Yummylicious….

    spicy-eggplant.jpg

Everyone enjoyed this dish. I could eat this almost everyday but it will be damn fattening from the amount of oil that is used to cook with.

Luckily we ordered a dish which is not spicy to balance back our taste buds.

    mix-seafood.jpg

Mix seafood with vegetables and tofu.

I highly recommend this place to eat during winter time. We didn’t feel cold after all the spicy food but I could feel my lip was really swollen.

It was a really nice catch up dinner with Glenn and Gary. After dinner we went to Gary’s place to chill.

*touch wood* so far I’m feeling ok. no emergency nature call. ;)

Yay, we’ve just finish downloading the last episode of heroes.

One down 2 more to go…

Spent my whole Sunday afternoon refurbishing my blog. As a part of my New Year resolution, I was supposed to “design” my own template and download a super cool ass image to be my header. But you know what, it’s just too much work. I downloaded this new template from WP and did some changes on the settings including the header. I am not an artistic person therefore my design knowledge is very limited although I’ve studied graphic design during my college years.

I think Joey was the first one to see the original template and he commented that he loved my work. Sorry mate, I wish it was my work… maybe next time when I’m a full time mom, I might enrol myself to a graphic design course again but I doubt so… download is easier or maybe pay someone to design my blog template.
Funny tho, my google ad sense is not showing up at the side bar. Anyway it’s not important to me anymore. So far I’ve earned less than USD 40 cents for the past 6 months. Damn malu lor.

Sh*t I just remembered tomorrow is Monday. Damn.

    Bar hopping in the city

DJ and I met up with the usual suspects after MIA for 3 weeks. I looked forward to go out and I think DJ was as well because he could not decide on what to wear – Mr Vain.

Lynn was in EL with her friends. It was nice to catch up with her before she goes to Hawaii. I’m going to miss my phone buddy for 10 days.
Daniel came to EL as well. I haven’t seen her since we met up in KL. I envy her because she’s going back to KL again next month for 3weeks!!
This is the reason why I need a contract work so that I can travel more often to Malaysia or an expatriate package would be good…

Then we adjourned to RACV city club to meet up with the rest of gang. It was meant to be a cheap [I mean really CHEAP] dinner night but we ended paying more than what was expected. I ordered a chicken breast meal but it looked more like a quail breast. Oh well at least I know that the chicken I ate had no hormones injected on it – I think.

We all shared a dessert platter that consist a variety of cakes and tarts.
I tried the chocolate mud cake. According to Tu, the almond pear tart is superb. Didn’t get the chance to try it because I was too busy talking. :P

    L-R: Yauie, Me and Eve

After dinner, we went to The Balcony. The music that was played was mainly R&B with some old skool tunes that I remembered I used to listen when I was in high school. The crowd was different from EL. we didn’t stay long and after 1 drink we all headed back to EL to continue where we started. DJ as usual will make everyone drink his all time favourite shot 1800. During this time it was my 6th drink for the night. I felt sick. Maybe it was because of the mixing around plus the wine I drank during dinner.

From EL we head off to Amber Lounge to say hello to the WTFProductions team. Next Friday will be Pi’s last week in Amber and we will be going down to support the team. I didn’t have any drinks at amber. I was hungry and had the cravings for KFC!
Called Lynn to ask where she was and she told me to meet her at Golden Monkey”. At that time, Lynn was actually checking out on the security. Notti girl! Thanks to Lynn for giving me few sips of her lemonade that made me felt better. Probably I was too dehydrated and the sugar fix did help the headache but I was still hungry.

After we bid farewell to Lynn, our last stop was Arthur’s. I actually wanted to go to Lavish with Lynn because there is house music played on Friday nights. There was a hot dog stand near Arthur’s, so I immediately bought the hot dog to eat to avoid being called chucky #4. Once I stepped into Arthur’s I was then been told that we actually crashed someone’s 21st birthday. Yes it was a private function. Gosh what have we got ourselves into? I’m assuming it is Damo’s friend’s friend. Felt damn shy lor…
Wasn’t planning to be chucky what so ever but when Yauie and I went to the toilet, I ter-saw a puddle of puke and I CHUCKED!! Mah de…Yauie called me a sympathy chucker. hahaha…
By the way, the private function played R&B music, which we all ended dancing but it was damn tiring due to slow timing of the beat.

We left around 3-ish. We shared a taxi with BurtonCyborg. Once we arrived home, I cooked supper for DJ and took 1 Panadol before hitting the sack to avoid next morning hangover. DJ reckons that the Panadol is just a placebo but I’m glad I took it.

    I live to tell.

    THUMBS UP for ME
I can’t believe that I actually survived in blog sphere up till today.
Yes, today mark my full 1 year of blogging.
I didn’t expect to come this far. Blogging is addictive.
And in less than 4 months I don’t Bitch I Blog dot com will turn 1 year old.
Hope you all enjoyed reading my post of superfluous rants that I encountered almost everyday…
    Have a good day everyone.
