  • The sun is out and so is the basket.

    Basil
    BASIL bicycle basket.

I survived riding in this hot weather. The good thing about summer riding is I don’t need to worry about carrying a jacket.

I have started to bring my bicycle basket (my new BFF :D ) to work and I find it VERY handy. Inside the basket, I have my lunch box, handbag and work shoe. Two weeks ago, I was about to ditch my basket because I was having problem balancing with the basket on at the same time trying to get use to the new toe clip that DJ bought for me. I was cursing at the basket for nearly causing an accident (more like an embarrassment). LOL But now, I am loving the basket to the max and in a way I am glad that I didn’t buy the backpack. Riding in this heat with a backpack is not very nice.

Hope everyone is enjoying the hot weather and remember to slap on heaps of sunscreen!.

    xoxo

Spring is back(again) & encounter with an idiotic father.

Despite the hayfever that I’m having now, I am very pleased with this weather. I hope we will have many more nice pleasant sunny weather for the next coming month until I go for my holiday. Everyone in the office is wearing their Spring/Summer collection. A lot of legs showing.

Looking at my ticker factory application, I have 4 months 1 week 5 days to go. The flight to Singapore via Darwin will be interesting because we will be experiencing a 4 hours transit. Great! >.< I hope I will have a good book to keep me busy.

This morning while riding to work, I encountered a situation where a man and his 2 kids were taking up the whole shared path in park which I usually use to get to work. I was in my happy mood until he totally ignored my bell ring that alerted him that I was behind him and his kids. So I did an over take and shaked my head of dissapointment that this idiot did not move a side for the sake of his kids safety. He then dare to shout out “Don’t shake your head!” and this really fired me up. I replied “ It’s a shared path!’ and rode off. WTF ?? Is that a good example to show your kids, it’s ok to be run over by a bike? Bloody idiot!!
I reckon cyclist are always the one to be blamed. Motorist hates cyclist and pedestrain hates cyclist. Where is the fairness?

I feel much better now after writing this out. Hope everyone is enjoying the sun and have a great day!

    Car-less night

Caught up with our lovely friend Sarah for dinner yesterday at Movida Next Door. After trying a few different tapas restaurants, Movida is still the best tapas bar/restaurant in town.
Movida Next door has a first come first serve concept but we were lucky to get a table in less than 5 minutes although we were told that we had to wait 20 – 30 minutes for a table.
DJ did all the ordering where else Sarah and me was busy yapping away.

After dinner, we went to Riverland for a round of beer. The weather forecasted to be raining however, the night turned out to be quite pleasant. It was a good Thursday night catch up and so sad that Sarah is actually going back to Beijing for good. Btw, I have inherited her full-length mirror and microwave. Lol.

We had to cover our face because I had no make up and Sarah was complaining that her face was chubby -_-

At about 9pm, DJ and I decided to call it the night and we rode home using the bike trail. The experience was so surreal. Almost like, I was in the movie Blair Witch project – Pitch black with only the headlight on.
It took us 35 minutes to reach Glen Iris from the city. I am impressed :D I reckon after a few more night practice I will be able to cycle home from after work drinks…hmm…

Breakfast at St Ali & bike riding at Docklands.

Even though this month we experienced many days of cold weather but thanked god that today’s weather was extremely beautiful. We rode from our home taking the Yarra trail to South Melbourne to meet up with MonkeyKing and from there we rode to St Ali for breakfast.

St Ali is famous for their coffees and I must say it is one of the best coffee I’ve ever tasted in Melbourne. The whole set up of this cafe is very laid back and they even had Aesop hand wash & balm in the toilets! Lovely :D

    Our breakfast:

Pancakes with coffee mascapone & orange marmalade toppings. Highly recommended.

Chorizo and bacon salad with additional poached eggs.

    Healthy breakfast with beer -_-”

Lamb sausage with mashed sweet potatoes.

After breakfast we rode to Docklands to meet up with Lynn. So happy that we finally get to meet Pinko. There were a few minor dramas with Pinko but luckily DJ was there to fix it.

We rode along the bike path for about 20 minutes and decided to take a break at James Squire to quench our thirst with some beer.

At about 4.45pm, we decided to call it a day and the journey back home took us an hour despite I had to pee so badly after the beer but managed to hold it till I reached home.

I had a really great time and riding is damn addictive!!

    Riding on Saturday.

I woke up extremely early on Saturday morning to go for bike riding with DJ. When we were about to leave home it started to rain a little but luckily the rain stopped after 20 minutes. We then quickly grab our bikes and rode to Richmond to get a wicker basket for my bike. It took us 30 minutes this time from our home to Richmond compared to the first time I rode which took me 45 minutes. Yay!! As you can see there is a slight improvement on my riding skill. Hehehe…

    Yarra bridge

At first I didn’t want to spend $140 on the wicker basket but in the end I decided to cuz it just look very classic on the bike :P

After shopping we rode down to Chapel St and did a stop over at Greville St for lunch. From there we rode home via High St and I ko’d the minute we reach home at 2pm. I had a good 2 hours nap and woke up to get ready for Maria’s hens night which I’ll write in my next post.

    My new love

    One word – Beautiful.

I rode home yesterday from Richmond and the whole riding experience was so unreal.
I realized there’s heaps to see while riding and it makes driving so dull and boring.
Can’t wait to go riding with the crew this weekend.
    I’m in love…

    Our new toys  Yipeeee~~~

I reckon I’ve made a smart decision in purchasing a bicycle rather than spending money on a new handbag. I’m hoping to cycle to work in future after I’ve familiarized with the bike routes.

Can’t wait for my bike to arrive next week. I is excite…hohoho.
