Snowboarding in Middle Earth
We will definitely go back to Queenstown to snowboard again. Absolutely loved it.
Good powdered snow, beautiful views of mountains and valley, good fun with good company. A trip that is totally wicked and unforgettable. I need to go for a serious detox program for myself due to excessive amount of alcohol consumed over the whole week at the Glebe apartment
Day 1
7 hours of sleep over in Auckland airport was not a good idea after all.
We were exhausted from walking up and down in the airport. I can even memorize all the alcohol labels that were sold in the duty free shops.

We met up with the rest of the gang at the apartment. DJ and I took a stroll by the lake. The view of the lake was so beautiful ans shopping in Queenstown was awesome. All shops open from 8am -9pm. How good is that? It feels like we were Asia where shopping is from morning till night! The best part is, I can get snow gears in my size. There’s even a LV shop. Not bad hur for a small town.
On our first night we had dinner at Loaded Hog. Can’t really recall if the food was good or not. DJ and Damo bonded after their 1st litre of beer. They were extremely noisy, especially DJ.
Day 2 Cardrona, Wanaka
The weather wasn’t too promising – strong blizzard winds.
I didn’t do much snowboarding due to the poor visibility. Lesson 1001: stay in GREEN runs not BLUE! I nearly fell off the cliff near Captain’s. I was terrified. DJ kept on saying it’s a good experience but I don’t think so because I could die or break my leg.
The road condition was icy and the car that we hired was pretty dodgy. Our car fell into a ditch on our way home. Scare the hell out of us, Thanked God for the mountain rescuers who pulled the stupid car out from the ditch.

Day 3 Remarkables, Queenstown
Beautiful sunshine. At least the weather was much better than yesterday.
Before driving up to the mountain, we took the car back to Avis because were were traumatized with the incident.
Tips for you all who plan to hire cars to drive up to the mountain on gravel roads. Never hire cars from Avis. We were given a Holden Commodore Acclaim (who the hell drives a rear wheel drive car up to the mountain?!). The manager was not helpful at all and she reckons that it was the driver’s fault that caused the car to fell into the ditch. She said that most of Avis customers prefers to drive commodores due to its traction control system but the car we had did not contract at all lor. How bizarre! Blardy dumb b!tch. >.< Yauie & Eve did most of the talking to the manager. In the end we managed to get our cars exchanged but the cars are only ready at 4.30pm.
The road condition at Remarkables was very icy and guess what?! Our freaking tyre chains broke. We then had to hire a new set of chains and in total it took us another hour to fit the chains. By the time I completed my first run, it was time for lunch. After lunch I just can’t be bothered to board again and decided to chill at the bar. What a drama day.

We celebrated KatsuDon’s birthday @ Dux de Lux.
I wanted to try out their speciality Flinstone Rib Eye but it was sold out. Arrgghh…!!! So disappointed
. I ended up ordering the “fish of the day” but it turned out to be ok only. Tasted a bit bland. DJ’s lamb shank looked more promising than mine.
After dinner we head back to Glebe for more serious drinking.
Day 4 Treble Cone, Wanaka
B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L view with the LOT

The journey to Treble Cone took about 3 hours but it felt like forever. Once we’ve arrived, everyone strap on their boards and went on their own where else I decided to take it slow and easy. I was enjoying the beautiful views of the mountains while boarding down the main green run that took me almost 20 minutes to complete (Ok I did stop half way to rest and snapped some photos
).
By the time I finished my first run, it was time for lunch. I bought this medium serve of stir-fry noodle which cost me NZ$11.50. Very expensive lunch especially when it is from the bain-marie. Oh well at least I know this café serves something Asian in their menu.

It tasted yummy.Maybe because I was really desperate for asian carbs. My hands were all shaky after not having any Asian food since last Saturday. Anything will do for the mean time
Day 5 & 6 Cardrona, Wanaka

Cardrona Rocks! At least this time we get to see how Cardrona looks like compared to day 1 when we were there. Beautiful blue sky and the sun was out! We were boarding at Cardrona for 2 days in a row.

I give extra credits to Cardrona because by far this is the only mountain that has a Noodle Bar. I was so excited when I saw it. The feeling was indescribable. It was like love at first sight… hihihi
In conclusion, after boarding for a week, I’ve finally got the hang of my “S”. Yes, I can carve now…
Finally I’ve achieved my GOAL (I am such a slow learner
). Next mission is to improve on my SPEED.
I’ll see you again Queenstown.
